What thought often comes to our mind when we think about an orphanage? An institution caring for orphans? A place where pitiful parentless kids are receiving daily sustenance from some goodwill individuals? All of these might sound quite right in this day and age where the needs of orphans are easily overlooked. But deep down inside of us, we reckon that an orphanage should be a home, with so much love and trained individuals who offer themselves as parents in all sense to the kids.
We are a family❣️
At Hope 4 Liberia mission's village, we run an unconventional orphanage which offers more than just a haven but a home for double orphans, where love, laughter and life are shared among the staff and our precious kids. Our children are growing up in the nurture of godly individuals
who love them and can call them their own. We believe that our kids are not burdens to endure, but blessings to enjoy. (Psalms 127:3)
More than anything else, we give our kids unwavering and unconditional love. There is a place in our heart where they are accepted just as they are, without question, including all their faults. And we teach them the way to God the Father, as Hosea said, “for in you the fatherless find compassion”
(Hosea 14:3).
We give them affection, affirmation and attention. In addition, we give our kids the opportunity to have experiences that will stretch them, reveal their talents, and challenge them to develop the skills of being responsible individuals. And we give them our shoulders so that they can stand tall and see the world.
James reminds us that a religion pure and faultless in the sight of God our Father is this: to look after orphans in their distress (James 1:27). At H4L we take this literally; that's why in all we do, our goal is to LOVE them as the Father in Heaven loves them, TRAIN them to become godly men and women in society; and TEACH them the Word of God and the Way to Him.
