This past week, October 14 - 22, was a truly special time for Hope 4 Liberia as we welcomed six members from the Hope 4 Liberia USA Team to our orphanage. For the first time since the children moved into the orphanage on May 22, the team had the chance to see firsthand the incredible growth and joy blossoming here, thanks to everyone’s prayers, support, and hard work. Led by our CEO, Kelly Wagner, the team included Education Supervisor Laurie Wagner, Nursing Supervisor Jami Kibler, Ashley Wagner, and Jim and Janelle Hendren.
The week was packed with memorable moments of fellowship, team building, and hands-on support that brought our team closer together as we all work toward the same vision. Seeing the smiles, excitement, and warmth from our children as they connected with our USA team brought a renewed sense of purpose to everyone involved.
The Team’s Impact on the Ground
Each team member brought their own unique gifts and energy to support and nurture the orphanage’s mission. Kelly was especially encouraged by the dedication and heart shown by our Liberian staff, noting their daily sacrifices to care for our children’s well-being. Her words of praise were a beautiful reminder of the family bond that Hope 4 Liberia creates, and how every act of love and service shapes a brighter future.
Education Supervisor Laurie Wagner worked tirelessly to prepare for the opening of our ministry school, which launches next week. From setting up a solid curriculum to training staff, Laurie’s commitment ensures that our children will receive a quality, faith-centered education. Laurie’s focus on educational excellence reinforces our vision of empowering these young lives.
Nursing Supervisor Jami Kibler partnered with the clinic’s nurse for a week of assessments and treatment for each of our children. Together, they provided essential healthcare services and strengthened the medical team’s practices to ensure our children’s physical well-being.
Ashley Wagner brought joy, grace, and love to our children. She spent time with each one, pouring out her heart in ways that left a lasting impact. Her kindness and warmth have already been missed by the children, who continue to speak fondly of her presence.
A Long-Term Blessing: Jim and Janelle Hendren
Jim and Janelle Hendren will continue to serve with us in Liberia over the next eight months, making a tremendous impact across multiple roles. Their roles are as varied as they are essential—Jim will serve as a maintenance worker, school administrator, project director, and teacher, while Janelle will contribute her gifts as a music teacher and school support. We’re excited to see the transformative influence their passion and dedication will bring to our daily operations and, most importantly, to the lives of our children.
Gratitude for Our Liberian Staff
None of this would be possible without our incredible Liberian team, whose love and dedication are the heartbeat of Hope 4 Liberia. Their warm welcome, teamwork, and daily sacrifices create a space where our children feel safe, loved, and valued. We are beyond grateful for the role each one plays, ensuring that the care and vision of Hope 4 Liberia extend far beyond this visit.
As we look forward to the months ahead, we pray for more moments like this week—a time to gather, to serve, and to grow together as we pursue our mission of hope and love for the future generation of Liberia. We thank everyone—our team, supporters, and friends around the world—for being part of this journey with us.
Together, we are making a difference, and we can’t wait to see what the Lord has in store.
