The American H4L (Hope 4 Liberia) team just got back from a productive, busy trip to Liberia. So many wonderful things have been in the works since opening the orphanage a few months ago.
Ashley, Cece and I loved every minute with the children at the home as well as spending time with the Liberian H4L team.
Starting an orphanage remotely, has not been easy. My Liberian business partner from HANDSA, lives in Norway and I'm here in the USA. This has all been possible because of our dedicated HANDSA and H4L boards. Pastor David and I are blessed with some of the most caring and dedicated team members ever.
Becoming a Liberian registered NGO (non-profit) was top priority as well as holding a 4 day training for all of our orphanage staff. We addressed policies & procedures, parenting strategies, appropriate discipline and guidance, loss & grief and how it effects the orphans, and a number of other topics. The feedback from the staff was unanimous. They all loved the time together building closer friendships as well as learning how to better run the home. We also held a 5 day VBS. Cece did science experiments with the kids, Ashley did story and singing time. So many special memories were created for the children. And lastly, I sent a shipment to Liberia in September, it arrived a few days before my return to the States. I'll share more about that later, in another post. :)
It is my goal to provide up-to-date info on this blog to keep investors and supporters informed of what is going on at the orphanage and upcoming plans. So please...come back and check it out or sign up to be notified when a new post hits the media. :)
The kids are wearing their new clothing that arrived in the shipment. They were so happy to have clothing!
